My car hasn't been in an accident, however, the airbag light just came on one day while I was heading to work. The passenger airbag light stays on even when I sit in the passenger seat, but I was told this error isn't related to the OCS sensor but an issue with the control module inside the Recaro seat cushion (which I think is the detection mat??).

I took it to a Nissan dealer for a diagnostic test, and I was told the passenger-side seat cushion needed to be replaced. However, they couldn't guarantee the light would go off, as they can't test airbags. The dealer quoted me $9k to replace the bottom seat cushion (which I would never pay), and I haven't found any other solutions besides searching eBay, forums, and salvage yards for another seat.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this and can provide any helpful information. Thanks!

Car Info:
  • 2016 370z Nismo Tech
  • Automatic
  • Recaro Seats (OEM)
  • 70k miles
Solutions I tried:
  • Scanned and tried clearing the code with BlueDriver OBII device - Failed to clear codes
  • Airbag 360 sensor emulator for OCS sensor - OCS code not raised for emulator to work
  • Tried clearing the code by following:
    1. Put car In ON mode
    2. Watch the airbag light closely as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the car off.
    3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)
    4. Repeated steps 1-3, 3 times until it was in diagnostic mode .
    5. Turned car back to ON and Watched the light blink in new pattern for 30 secs
      1. A solid airbag light followed by 4 quick flashes, a pause, then 2 quick flashes.
    6. Turned car off and counted to 5 like in step 3, and turned back to ON. (repeated these steps several times but light still persists)
