In my area the best gas available is 91 octane. During a recent trip I was able to buy 93. It may be my imagination but the car seemed to have crisper acceleration. Am I imagining things?

the Z is very sensitive to octane difference between 91 vs 93 can be upwards of 30hp

There’s a Sunoco by me that sells 94 octane . I always put 93 and was wondering if it’s worth paying for the 94 lol

Seriously? 30 HP? That's almost scary.

An AI search for 93 octane in the area shows a few gas stations that sell 93 octane in the area, predictably centered around Brainerd International Raceway. It's about 20 miles away, but 30 HP would make it worth the trip. Very interested to check it out.

Yeah I've seen a few dynos in the Facebook groups of the power difference on 91. Also there was also a couple reviews where the Z felt sluggish on 91

This is a clip talking specifically about the NISMO but the performance is also mentioned

Huge difference. From dynos and research, even the 94 chevron we got here felt odd and switched back to 93 shell and felt more responsive on throttle

While in CA I could only find 91 and I could feel the lack of punch.

Which brings up the topic of octane enhancers. In WA I can find 92.

its like running octane booster from 91 to 93, to help its best to mix like E10 ethanol to bring your overall octane up

From what I have read, the Nissan Z was tuned to use 93 octane.

Yes for the 400hp. It has to run safely on 91 as not all states have access but it pulls timing to compensate

I ran an AI search in the area for sources of 93 octane. ChatGTP was not helpful. Of the six stations that Google's AI identified, four of them were no-go and one station was closed. I did find it in a station right at the entrance to Brainerd International Raceway at $3.75/gallon. I didn't wring it out on the way home, but I do suspect that there is more there than on 91 octane. Time will tell....

I live in NJ where 93 is everywhere. I would run VP Octanium in my 911 on very 90°+ days. Most turbo cars will pull timing on hot days with the AC on even with 93 oct. Octanium made a HUGE difference, you could feel it once it made its way from the fuel tank into the engine. I haven't tried it on my Z yet but definitely will this summer now that I have the car dialed in. Bonus is this smells like race gas from the exhaust, smells great!!

As D2M said in NJ 93 is everywhere also in NYC and I think up and down the east coast. I drove my other car to Austin and was able to get 93 everywhere. I know a couple of Sunocos - one just before GWB entrance on 46 that sells 100 octane for instance. I've never put anything else in my cars.

We only have 92 octane here in Washington and I always wonder what I'm missing with that 1 octane difference.. Don't understand why 93 isn't standard everywhere for premium.
