Just got my Z, Diamond Black in MT. 23 model purchased as a demo with 1400kms for 64,250 drive away in VIC. Overall stoked with the car and think I got myself a pretty good deal.

But I think I'm getting reamed by insurance. Who are you guys with and what are you paying? Are you declaring your mods? So far I've only got PPF on the front end and ceramic on the rest, initially was with budget but after I told them about it, my premium went from $1800 to $2200. Now with YouI; $18xx premium with a $1150 excess.

Playing with different online quotes, once you start adding mods the car either becomes uninsurable or just goes nuts with pricing. With Shannons for e.g. I'm getting a quote for over $5k with a $950 premium.

ATM I'm considering adding BOVs and a catback, but hesitating with the absurd increase in insurance costs

So I came across similar enthusiast insurance nearly doubled when you put wheels on. And irrelevant if they ebay fakes or nismo lm gt's.

I have other cars with aami and they do fixed value and cover all legal mods you do not have to list them.

So im with them around 1400 per year with an acceptable valuation

Will look again when I'm modifying further.

Enthusists are not for new cars... they were by far the most expensive for my (43yrs old and perfect history driving and insurance). Shannons was almost as bad, but better because my classics are with them.

I went with Youi because new for old replacement and ticked the choice of repaired box which costs me 1260 a year. Would I choose Youi generally? absolutely not, and once the new for old time is over I will be shopping around.

The weird bit is Shannon's and AAMI are same company but AAMI worked out to be much cheaper.

Enthusiast were by far cheaper till a couple mods then through the roof.

Which is weird as that's what they advertise themselves as.

Shannons is owned by AAMI but does things differently and offers choice of repairer, free windscreen replacement etc. there is a difference.

I would not trust AAMI if they were last insurer's left!
Currently have an AFCA dispute open on them for how useless they are
