Guess I am in for painless dent removal, touch up, etc. I swore more at curbing my rear right rim. However, my Z is for enjoyment, creating memories, and getting me places.

AND YES, PPF would have possibly stopped the paint damage. (But I still think PPF is ugly. Last time I gave my opinion on PPF, someone reported me.)

Man I feel for ya, that sucks. A hunk of dried clay fell off a truck in front of me, bouncing and tumbling in slow motion until hit hit my hood and tore through the paint. I was surprised at how much bite it had given the angles. I was able to touch it up before getting in in for PPF. PPF is kind of an expensive PITA and I felt it ridiculous for years but I'm fairly certain, given the depth of impact on your shots, that it would have not only prevented the. paint damage but distributed the impact enough to prevent all of that.

I hate PPF lines though, they are ugly and trap dirt. Installers can seal edges but that brings its own problems. On my f150 I have edges because I only had a partial front done (specifically to prevent it looking terrible at resale time) but some of the edges have collected dust and debris. You have to be very close to see it but its there. That would be unacceptable on the Z so I had the full front done with edges wrapped. It's all but impossible to tell it has a wrap. DIY ceramic now exists specifically for PPF so it no longer throws off your preferred routine finish-wise and beads as if hit with witchcraft just like anything with a ceramic finish. I slowly became a convert and now it's near default on anything at least in a partial capacity like our "work/farm" truck.

That sux and hurt my heart too. After putting in the work to ceramic coat and obviously you care about the car.

Looks like you are beyond PDR. It looks like some paint chips in there too.

PPF would have prevented the paint chips but no necessarily the ding. But PDR would have fixed if you had PPF.

The "like" is for preventing paint chips.

PDR will get rid of the dent.

Watched 12 different "how to use touch up paint, then sand it to fix it". Nope. Ain't doing it.

I figured out why the rim bothered me more than this; My actions caused the rim rash. This was an act of fate/God.

Rewound my dash cam. I found the impact SOUND, but can't see anything hitting it. I was near a rock-chucking dump truck, but even if I had his plate number, there's 2 things I can do about it; NOTHING and LIKE IT.

PDR sent me a quote for $165/1" dent. So I'm at $320 just for the dents. Oh well.

the dr colorchip kits work ok. you basically glob on the paint then use this solution that lets you wipe off everything but the paint that went down inside the chip with a little squeegee tool

Damn I don’t know what hurts me more. The ding or the fact that someone reported you for your opinion on PPF. That’s wild

After you get the first scratch/ding/dent then it's not a big deal anymore. I drove my car down a gravel road and told myself not to worry, this car is for driving and won't live in my garage. I have a touch up paint pen that will get me through the worst of it :) I'm a little paranoid about hitting my first parking divider with my front bumper though.
