Apparently, these are demo vehicles and they're going to be destroyed soon

I recall Toyota gave out some preproduction J29s to drivers competing in drifting events.

I think a smarter move would have been to lend it to dealers so people can test drive it as a demo car.

From a liability standpoint, test vehicles that have been overly stress tested can not be used for everyday driving. Aircraft that are stressed beyond normal limits are either destroyed or sent to museums. From my background in products lability, I realize that destroying the vehicle is the safest risk management decision. I still don’t like it, but I know the destruction decision is due to our litigious society and is the best corporate action for protecting assets.
