So I had installed the z1 touring y back as my first exhuast option and then I went to install the AWE full touring catback exhuast. Now when I floor it I get sort of a mettalic whistle sound at maximum turbo rpm. As per turbo boost and rpm guage, everything is normal but what could be the cause of the sound? Ive never had this until after installing the new exhuast, not sure if its normal cause of the new exhuast, but idk if a catback would really exaggerate the turbo whistle full throttle by that much. Keep in mind that this only happens full throttle.

Or a possible exhaust leak, The AWE clamps can leak if not positioned and clocked correctly.

I have the AWE touring and mine doesn't make any whistling noises. Also might want to check the rear muffles, they might be too close to the heat shield under the trunk area causing a rattle. The AWE is full stainless so it will grow when hot, mine will grow about 1 inch from cold to full hot so if its close to something when cold it might touch when full hot.

Definitely not normal. Here is mine for reference. It sound a bit compressed because Im on my work PC. I have AWE touring with AMS lower downpipes. Mine never made that type of noise even before I installed the downpipes.

Thats weird man. Prolly exhuast rattle? Like i said it doesnt make this sound unless full throttle and the sound comes and goes between shifts. My worry its the turbos or engine but then there is no perfromance loss.

I don't think its a performance related issue. I personally think it something is not installed correctly. Something might be just slightly off where it will only leak under WOT and max RPM and load, not a rattle but s small leak that only lets gas by under high pressure causing a whistle sound. Its like those exhaust gag whistles.

Drive it hard for a week or so and take it back to the shop. You should see a carbon trail on the exhaust pipe where its leaking.

That doesn't sound like the turbo whistle I'm used to, definitely more metallic

Could be leak, exhaust rattle, loose v-clamp. Something is definitely not tight there

Interesting. I went onto Z1 motorsports video on youtube to hear the AWE exhuast note and at around 1:24 to 1:26 you can hear the exact same whistling sound. You can also hear some whistles on the track edition but not as much.

In that case, it could just a quirk from AWE. Completely annoying but something you'd might have to get used too 🤷‍♂️
