In short, bought a new 2024 Z Sport (like 5 days ago new). I regret it most because of the the open diff, so I bought a rear differential carrier off a 2024 Z Performance. The donor Z Performance was totaled and only had 1900 miles on it.

I am going to swap it in my Z Sport. Has anyone on here tried this yet?

I wanted to do what you are about to do, but got impatient waiting for a sport to fall to MSRP. Very curious how it goes for you, because I always thought buying a sport and doing a few key mods (LSD being the primary) was the way to go. Good Luck and keep us posted!

That's was thinking as well. I waited till prices dropped. Looks like they will drop further too. I was going to just swap in the LSD, but I don't have that level of knowledge to make it happen in my garage (w/o messing up). So, I opted to buy the entire carrier. I'll let you know. I just purchased all new seals from Z1 so it will be a week or 2.

Just curious if your car is a MT or AT and where you were able to get a used diff?

My Z is MT (I've got a thing for manuals), but they sell the rear end based on MT/AT, with the MT being a bit more expensive.

D2M, They sell them on Z1 and all Nissan Part stores (about $2,400 or so). I bought mine on eBay off a totaled Performance with 1900 miles, mint condition.

I saw the ones on Ebay were from an AT cars. The ratios are different from AT to MT. 3.1 vs 3.3 ratio. I am looking for a MT unit to try the 3.3 ratio in my Nismo.

Hello,
We did exactly that after learning how fragile these open diffs actually are at the track. We swapped an LSD from the performance into our base sport model.
Check out our video here:

I saw those on eBay too. I only saw one MT performance listed. I ran the vin and saw it on bidcars.com. When I saw the Z was hit from the front, the rear end was in touched, and only had 1,900 miles, I pulled the trigger.

It's been great for us so far! Keep in mind we do still have the Z1 solid bushings and diff casing as well on this one to help reinforce it. We have yet the really test the launch with our Z1 turbos (est.750whp), but it held well when we were launching those stock turbos! (est.500whp). All in all, with the Z1 bushings and diff casing, these should be damn near bulletproof!

I was watching the video and saw the guy with the beard say "the shop I'm Houston". Is that where you guys are at?
