I have a c8 and a performance z 6mt and also a nismo z. The c8 is on a much higher pedestal. 911s are way overpriced and not what they used to be just like BMW performance vehicles. A $300,000 911 GT3 is not happening for me anytime soon as as much as I want it to.
Youre not wrong. My friend bought a new 992 GT3 for 280K OTD cash and let me drive it. Its an awesome car but not 300K awesome. My 911 msrp was 135K and I would take that and 150K cash all day long over that car. I used to think 911s were overpriced but you're not only paying for performance but the materials and build quality and a very unique driving experience. For instance there was not 1 single plastic clip in my whole car, everything was held together by an nut and bolt or a metal clip.

Wish I had that type of cash laying underneath my mattress. Porsche vehicles are more for your special type of people who are more privileged I feel.

Agree %100. I'm just a normal blue collar dude that works hard and saves his money ( a redneck with a paycheck ) I bought my 911 new in 2018, it was a YOLO moment in my life. Everywhere I went I got " Nice Porsche, what do you do for a living " This definitely got annoying after a while, then I just started making shit up :p Im not that fancy brand guy, I just like to drive fast. I definitely didn't fit in with the Porsche crowd, but I did like the car.

Friend's 2018 GT3. I have driven it on the track, have driven a GT4, Supra, Nissan Z all on the track.
Porshe track cars are perfect. You can beat on them all day on track and then take your wife out to dinner at night in comfort and style.

Are they worth 2x more than a Z or Supra or ____ Subjective and 1st world issue. I think they are- but admittedly do not own one myself.

I don’t necessarily agree with privilege convo. I have plenty of money and prefer the Z over the others. Yes many that have the money want it be seen and buying supercars is a way to been seen. I have 4 Z cars , 71 240z restomod, 90 300zx 2+2 automatic, Z Proto, Nismo Z, I prefer any of these cars over the Porsche etc etc, actually sold my C8 Loaded 22 Vette because it lacked character and the beauty of the Z car! I love the fact that each of these Z cars is different but similar to drive and definitely enjoy adding mods to these cars in my own garage. Long live the Z!

Good to know and everyone has their preferences but I recently let go of both my performance z and also the nismo z. Just didn't feel they were up to par with modern standards but that's just me. Hope you enjoy all of your vehicles because they definitely have nostalgia and a good retro feel to them since Nissan used the previous backbone from the past several years.

Same reason I'm still on here, interest will never go away, always a Z fan no matter how wild or mild current models are. My '73 track/street is my 5th Z the reason I'm hanging on is the approach Nissan took to design the new Z with lots of heritage bits, even though skimped on current tech. This is the last 'analog' Z IMO and that makes it interesting, and it's ALL Nissan, no joint ventures. Holding out because prices has to come down to make it work for my budget. Cayman S track build is eating my $$ and Gladiator lifted/camp setup 13mpg doesn't help either.

Cayman s track car is a great platform. That will be hard to beat as a track toy

I've owned 3 Porches over the past 30 years. Very little soul in those cars, more like machines. The Z has character, a legacy.
Nice driving cars but nothing mod-able like the Z.

You can take this Z and rip it apart in your garage, slap parts on, tune it on the spot and not worry about costing you $10,000 for a bumper cover from doing silly little things.
I don't want to pay $400 for a hose that should cost $40. I don't care that it is made in Germany.

Also, I hate dealing with Porsche service departments. Their pompous attitude is not my style. Screw that. I'm not that guy.

Z is where it's at. And so are the owners.
Agree on the maint and repairs side, why I do lots of maint (AOS, oil changes, shifter cables, brakes, etc) myself, good to learn and know what to do when needed at the track. Labor costs are high (~$175/hr) here, I know. I have affinities with both Zs and Cayman P cars, not so much overpriced 911s and other rear-engines. Cayman's handling as a base is superb, we have a few techy tracks around here. OTOH my 50 yr old Z is still super balanced, great simple design! Just getting too old structurally safety-wise.

If we all loved and were all into the same cars then the world of cars would be no fun. Everyone would want / drive the same thing.

I have already had people tell me how cool my Z is and how they don't see many, or never seen one in person yet. A cool car is a cool car to me.

When I was watching reviews on the Z they were all about track performance. They would say the suspension is more touring (for the Performance) or its not as fast as X car. Other's would say the interior didn't have enough tech. These were pluses for me as I like knobs and switches and not everything being touch screen and I was looking for a more road-trip, fun weekend on the back-roads car then a track burner. The cool thing about the Z is you can make it a pretty darn good track car for not a TON of money and still spend less than a higher performing car from the showroom.

Another big gripe I see people say is it is just re-skinned 370Z. Well I never had a 370Z so I didn't care - the car is absolutely gorgeous to me. Ticked all the boxes more than any other car I was looking at.

Yeah, that's more from the YouTube commentators and some of the automotive journalists than from the general public, in my experience. Most people are pretty excited to see the Z in the metal. The car has great curb appeal.

It may be a re-skin but at the very least it's a highly cool one, regardless of any shortcomings.

I’ve tracked vettes and ridden in Porsche’s on track. I think Porsche is the best track car. But no one should ever compare a Z to a Porsche. That’s just silly. Still, I love Z’s. I think they the most fun, everyday driver over Vettes and Porsche.

I installed a wider front tire and 2 way adjustable shocks and the car is DIALED IN.
What's your current wheel/tire setup? I'm planning on a square setup after I wear our the stock tires.

Currently OEM Nismo wheels 19x10 with 275/23/19 and 19x10.5 with 285/35/19 all on 12mm spacers.

I am still debating on what way to go with a square setup, 19x10.5 with 285 square or 19x11 with 305 square. There are advantages and disadvantages in both cases.
