I have been slowly refining my choices for an exhaust for my z and have been stuck between the Borla S-Type and the AWE Touring exhausts. I am having a hard time choosing since both seem like great choices, but are there any aspects of either exhaust that makes it better for my situation? I plan on tuning and getting aftermarket downpipes after my warranty expires to open my exhaust more. I am seeking a deeper tone with the least rasp and drone possible, which makes me lean toward the awe, but then I have seen many people praise the Borla S-Type. What is best for my preference?

AWE Touring with downpipes is perfection in my opinion. Zero drone and sounds great, nice and deep tone. I have the track conversion kit too to make things spicy but honestly as a daily its a lot to deal with lol! I like to swap back to the touring when ive had enough. Such a good combo

Do you think it’s worth getting while I still have stock downpipes?

I’d like to know this too.
The AWE touring was my first mod so the rest of the exhaust was all stock. It was maybe %10 louder than stock if that. I went with the touring because I knew I was going to do downpipes in the future. I just did the AMS lower downpipes and its perfect.

If you are going to stay with the stock downpipes then go with the track edition.

I put the Borla S-type on. The drone between 2200-2900 rpms was deafening. I had it switched back to stock after 1 week. It had a great sound but running around town was unbearable with the drone.

I think this is good advice. I thought the tone was great without downpipes but i was a little disappointed that it wasnt louder. Thats just a Z problem in general. These cars really need downpipes to wake up

AWE Touring on my car as well. Better growls than stock, and less drone on the highway. Haven't messed with downpipes.

I have the AWE Touring, and like it a lot. I picked that one because I hate when exhausts drone. The AWE is perfect for me, a little louder and meaner than stock, and no drone!
