Getting mine done today, car is washed and spotless, will take photos and video when I drop it off and walk around with service manager when I pick it up.

the concern isnt really scuffing the bumper at the dealer its more making the system work properly

there was just a guy in the facebook groups that had is hood popped for a but of debris popping up on the bumper as he was driving 22mph.

Could all these hoods that have popped be related to the wiring harness, that is would have they triggered if the harness was wired correctly

no its the opposite. the wiring harness on the passenger side is wired upside down which makes it LESS likely to deploy the poppers from an impact to that side.

the recall corrects this which in theory makes it more sensitive

That would suck if they pop if you look at it wrong

Got the car back from dealer, took about 3 hours, no scratches or marks. Two minor things the gap was larger on passnger side where bumper meets bonnet and power windows needed reset, the guys adjusted both in no time.

Look how easy this popped from some road debris

Yeah... No thanks.. Mine is permanently recalled into my parts box in my spare room.

Years ago my wife and I owned a Mitsubishi Eclipse GS: 2.0T, front wheel drive. Such a fun car. So much torque steer. Like the Z it was two tone (white with black roof), but I digress...

On the way from San Diego to Vegas once we hit a roadrunner. It didn't work out well for the roadrunner or the headlight assembly. I'm guessing these days it would also not work out well for the hood poppers.

Was thinking about these today and found this thread again. I really don't like these things.

I saw you showed in another thread that you removed them. Anyone have steps to do this (just remove them)?

Any codes / lights on the dash or anything if you remove them?

You don't have to remove them if you don't want to, you can just unplug them but you will need to buy the resistor kit. Without the resistors you will definitely get a warning light for the airbag system. I removed mine cause they were just dead weight and for a cleaner look.

Here is the kit you need: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1756394299...jittQNOMEKtBuUVBNppdFxJFww==|tkp:BFBMtPW07p5l

OK, talk to me like I get coloring books for Christmas; I got notified for my Z about the recall. The dealership called me last week that the part is in.

I read all 3 pages. Using context, I THINK I have this 'feature" figured out;

Are you saying that there are sensors in the front of the Z that, if you hit a pedestrian or a Roadrunner, the hood "pops" up near my face? What does this accomplish? Allow the hood to then slide in to my A pillars and windshield?

Methinks that I'll do the add-a-resistor and not risk a hood surprise....

There are sensors, just like SRS airbag sensors on the front of your car. When triggered, it sends a signal to eject them.

The pedestrian hood poppers pop the hood straight up. Helps minimize a pedestrian slamming into your windshield.
