I got a stupid question about revving the engine on the 2024 Nissan Z while using the Left and Right pedal shifters. My Z is an automatic. The only way I know how to rev the engine is when I put the Z in park mode. But can you rev the engine when it is NOT in park mode? And don't tell me that I need to put the Z in neutral mode in order to rev the engine at every stop light. Is there a way to rev the engine at a stop light WITHOUT putting the Z in park mode or position? I can rev the engine when the Z is in park position but don't know how to rev the engine when at a stop light or when the car is moving slowly.

I have seen cars revving the engine while going at slow speed but when I hit the gas pedal, the Z sped up but no revving engine sound. I know how to do the engine revving if the Z was a stick shift but mine is an automatic with pedal shifters.

Zs don't have a show off free rev mod like some sports cars. Many of those you do something like pull both paddles and it puts in neutral for a free rev.

I am wondering why Nissan doesn't create a pedal shifter from 1 to N for Neutral mode. Or from 1 to 0 mode. So the pedal shift gear would look like this:

9
8
7
6
5
4
3
2
1
N

The letter N or the number 0 which is compared to a stick shift when you put the stick shift in the middle which is a neutral position.

It would be nice to have an option to pull both paddles to go into N. I guess you could just do launch control sequence and not actually launch?

Left foot on brake, then gas + both paddles (in sport mode). If you keep your left foot on the break and both paddles pushed in you should be able to rev - no? Maybe it dis-engages if you don't keep the throttle down - I am not sure.

If you can though I think once you let go of both paddles, if you do not "launch" within I think 6 seconds it dis-engages the launch control.

But yeah pressing button on shifter + halfway up and hold for .5 seconds to get into neutral isn't really ideal for trying to do revs at a stop light.

Just curious, did you change your exhaust to render better sound?
