It's piss poor, really. Like you've mentioned - and we've already discussed, Nissan's Soft Roader is meant to be here, and still crickets. With Nissan's focus on the Qashqai new Z details may be benched for sometime yet.

All that speculation swirling for extra details from Nissan in December last year and nothing, then all the chatter about prices forthcoming with the Superbowl ad campaign and still nothing. It's frustrating.

With the delay on the Qashqai, we could be waiting months yet for anything official for the Z. It's safe to say its caught all of us off guard. Not good PR on Nissan's behalf.

I was told by my dealer when i put my deposit for a reservation that delivery is expected to be in 3rd quarter. So perhaps August.

But this is the point. When I first put my deposit down, it was late last year, or maybe as late as Feb, then Nissan reported Mid this year, then when actual reservation system started it stated “expected arrivals in August” at the bottom of the page…now even that has disappeared

All I’m saying the The Pathfinder was supposed to be released and in dealers “summer” 2021, but is still not here, no set arrival date, and Nissan is still taking reservations. The Quashi was due early 2022, yet no date, no price, but taking reservations. The Z is supposed to be after both of these cars…so what hope do we really have? Especially given these two cars will be far more important in terms of revenue for the company.

I’m really starting to second guess myself, and I really don‘t want to….because I know if I give in a buy anything else I’m not going to be truly happy with my choice

I was told something similar when I was contacted for pre-order last year. I get the idea of generating a bit of interest before launch, but it's a pretty unreasonable lead time in my opinion

I'm in the US at the moment and saw an Infiniti Q60 Red Sport for hire. I thought it'd be a good opportunity to 'preview' the Z as it's got the same engine. The car was great! Super fast, nice ride. My last sports car was a Skyline, so in comparison to this there's no turbo lag, & felt way punchier. I think the Z will definitely be worth waiting for-I'm guessing it'll be lighter, plus manual, & with the same engine...it'll be amazing.

Only down side is the sound...it's not really there, especially compared to a straight 6 turbo. To me the sound & drive of the engine felt similar to an Audi/BMW.

I get the frustration in waiting, but no point cracking it with the Nissan Australia team.
They legit wouldn't know when the cars will start arriving here.

More than likely, and I'm speculating, they won't know yet when production for AU compliance RHD vehicles will be started - due mainly to chip shortages. It make far more economic sense to allocate the limited number of input components into the LHD market.

I don't work for Nissan, but I'm not aware that the AU test vehicles have arrived yet - they'll need to pass their ADR testing before they can really be produced in quantity and shipped out for sale.

Good things come to those who wait :)

The AU cars would already be in production, because they are essentially the same car just a RHD…and there are already many RHD Zs in Japan
The chip issue has been an issue for over a year, they would have been well aware of the numbers that they can/can not produce by now.

People are cracking it because there has been 0 information since October last year, and there doesn’t seem to be any forthcoming.
People are cracking it because the Pathfinder that was due Dec last year is still not here, and still has no delivery date, people are cracking it because the Quashi that was due early 2022 still has no delivery date or price set

Given the track record why keep taking pre orders when you can’t deliver what’s already promised …yes that is Nissan Aus fault and that’s why people are cracking it
Ive asked specifically if they can fill all pre orders, and they refused to answer the question, meaning they most probably don't even know how many cars they are getting, or what specifications ..yet they are taking peoples money. That’s a pretty good reason to crack it, and is most definetly Nissans fault

↑ Exactly. Delays are one thing but it's the complete lack of communication from Nissan Australia that is unacceptable, especially after advertising reservations and taking deposits.

$74278 is a very arbitrary number for a price for a new vehicle so I would take that figure with a grain of salt and also would be very surprised that a NQ dealership would get information before larger dealerships in the major cities or even before other markets that are higher priority than us.

Also with the models we are getting their probably isn't any real options besides choice of colour etc.

Yeah just saw that …I’m gonna contact my dealer see if there is any updates…my guess this is just the dealers guess same as all of ours.
Contract has to have a monitory value so they just provide a guessitmate.
The fact they called it the performance model is a orange flag

i hope it’s true, because they would release a price if it’s a six month wait…sadly I doubt it is

Do you happen to work in the ADR testing field?
If so how long does the process tend to take, and do you know if the Quashi has gone through it yet…given the dealers have told us they will be concentrating on that model first yet there is no release date?

So …this is what annoys me.
Nissans Facebook page today….still advertising, still taking reservations, even though it seems they have no clue as to when they will arrive, and even if they have enough for the pre orders they already have

Hi Guys,
I know a couple of you are QLDers ….just wanted to say I hope you are all safe.
The footage of the floods over there is pretty overwhelming.
So strange, one side of the county having its longest heat wave in history, whilst the other is under water. As much as I hate the heat, Ill put up with it over what you guys are going through any day

thinking of you
