I would like enhance the breathing and sound of Z. Would the Nismo Intakes and the Nismo street Exhaust be a good place to start? This is not the start of a serious build.

If you have an auto, then the stock exhaust it pretty good. If you want to hear the turbo noise, start with an intake. Then see how you like it, the auto exhaust is pretty good.

I have the K&N cold air intake. You can hear the turbos better if you are near a building, and the windows are down.

Others have stated that, "A CAI is NOT needed on a car with an intercooler." No plastic box around your filters = more turbo sounds.

One thing for sure, at least in my experience, a nice intake will absolutely reduce turbo lag, very noticeably!

Whether running open or closed.

No plastic covers = more hot air into the intake manifold.

I have the K&N CAI. I won't be racing.

If you want them, find me a cost-comparable intake that is open to the whole engine bay and I'll trade you. (Not a Temu-special!)

I have the Nismo intakes so I'm good. I track my Z on occasion. So far once a year lol.

Are you intakes boxless? In that case it would make more sense especially for car shows to show them off. Me personally I care more about performance than show but I try to balance the two.

Nope. Boxed. There are also gaskets you can place on the top lip that, when the hood is closed, makes the top side of the box so air con only get in through the hole in the front (From the "cold" side.)

I don't see my car ever being tracked, sans for maybe a Watkin's Glen "pay $30 and drive around the track" sessions.

I'd be willing to sacrifice a bit of performance for the sound.

That's pretty cool with the hood trick. Even with the closed box, I can still hear my turbos.
