The Nismo is made by borla. To each their own obviously however if it were me, I would choose the 2.5” Borla branded one. But again. That’s just me. I wouldn’t personally get hung up on it saying Nismo when Nissan isn’t building it anyway.

Thanks for clearing everything up for me, I assumed it was manufactured in Japan. At this point I'm not sure if it's worth changing the exhaust, since these systems don't effect the sound that much, especially if you leave the stock cats on. My old car was smelly and loud, and I really don't miss that at all.

So, it's just a little louder than the stock exhaust on the 9 speed... I can get the Nismo exhaust from my local dealer for $1900.00. I do wish you could get a better sound out of just a catback exhaust, but it is what it is. When I got my Motordyne exhaust for my old 370, that thing cost as much as the Nismo, but it sounded awesome compared to the options we have for the vr30.
shop around, I've found deals for near 1700, it's great since Nismo has specials.

I put a Borla Stype exhaust on my 23 Proto an am really Happy with the results. They make a High Quality product and I can understand why Nissan uses them for production. I’ve kept the Exhaust on my 24 Nismo stock as I find the sound to be very satisfying as is. The only thing bugs me is that exit pipe/finisher look to short.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be turned off by something not being made by Nissan. Borla mufflers are great. All stainless steel so they don’t burn out over time like a glass pack.

It's not the Nismo branding that sold me but the sound. I've listened to all the other cat-back exhausts that didn't have aftermarket downpipes and the Nismo was my favorite.

Good deal, I’m glad you found “the one” for you. For me the jury is still out.

I haven't been able to find an audio comparison between the Nismo track and street exhausts. Does anyone have one?

You can find them on YouTube but they're not direct comparison videos, just single videos with the street version and others with the track version.

Look at the Borla video.
Not identical to the Nismo but really close.
The borla video has both the S type and Atak in same video.
Borla makes the nismo. So they should be fairly similar.

I'm thinking of getting the Nissan Z Cat-Back Race/Track Exhaust, that way I would be keeping my car with genuine Nissan products. Just wondering if anyone on here has this setup. It's hard to find any sound clips online.
I have the track exhaust. I thought it was going to be to loud but I love it. I will make a sound clip and post it later. On my 370 NISMO I did a muffler delete. I installed AAM short tails
W/ Resonators. My 370 was much loader with hella drone.
