I'm scheduling my 10k mile maintenance with the dealership, and noticed they offered a "premium package". Included in this package is BG MOA, BG44K and Front Wipers.

I did a little research and found that BG MOA is an oil treatment, and B44K is fuel treatment. My question to all of you is, are either one of them worth it? I was taught as a kid that most treatments/supplements are just snake oil and not worth the money/don't do anything, but my dad was old, crusty and cheap so I'm trying to keep an open mind here. Anyone have experience with this stuff? Positives are nice, but more interested in Negatives/Risks.

The BG MOA adds only $20 to the price tag, but the BG44k + Wipers adds another $110 on top of that.

All I can add is my own experience. I have owned cars for 40 years and have never had an engine failure of any kind. All I do is change the oil every 10k miles and use full synthetic. That's all I do and I have a 2002 Explorer with 320k and a 1993 Miata with 220k currently, I've owned both since new.

I have had many other vehicles come and go and taken them well over 100k and never a single engine failure. And I use my vehicles, I don't baby them. I have a large family with many kids driving and a wife that drives like Mario Andretti.

Religious oil and filter changes every 10k miles full synthetic with whatever proper weight oil is on sale that day.

Never a failure.

Avoid them the additives. Best thing you can do is if you are concerned about keeping the Z in top running condition get the oil change closer to 5k miles and don't go the 10k. The 0w-20 is a really thin oil and used to enhance Nissans overall fleet fuel economy . Many change to. 5w-40 but if you want to keep OEM oil 10k is just too much on the Z.

Instead of fuel additive just make sure you are running quality 93 octane that has its own additives.

Glad you asked. I was a BG dealer for about 10 years. All BG products are GREAT!!

The 44K is like fuel injector cleaner on steroids and then on steroids again. Its kind of pointless on a new car however, its overkill. The best case use is for a high mileage used car that hasn't had the best maintenance done, it will definitely bring back efficiency and power noticeably.

The MOA is also kind of pointless if you are using good synthetic oil. Best use case is if you are using conventional or lower quality semi-synthetic oil.

I do use MOA every oil change and BG SCII fuel additive every 2000-2500 miles in all my gas cars only because I still have boxes of this stuff and don't want to let it go to waste. You also have to be careful with dealers and shop as they will charge you for the BG service and never actually pour it in and keep it for their personal cars.

Old car you don't know the history of - sure - it can't hurt to do it once.

Newer car you do know the history of / have owned since new and get regular oil changes and maintenance - no reason to do any of that stuff.

Just my 2 cents.

BG Products have a good rep in the service industry but DO incentivize their sales at dealerships. Additives are like UFOs and ETs - 99.9% are complete BS. It's the other 0.1 %, like BG, that are interesting!!

MOA is mostly an antioxidant and not really needed if you change a synthetic before it thickens. 44K is a PEA based gasoline detergent that is great for cleaning the Z's direct fuel injectors and combustion chambers. PEA chemistry is included in some pump brands like Shell V-Power and Chevron Techron but at a "keep clean" or prevention dosage. The 44K is "clean up" strength and excellent for engines subjected to short trips with little use of throttle where safe :)
