I like the fog lights. I wish the Z had something like that.

Has the GT-R seen the canards before?

this is a major day for Nissan fans to have some reflection . First alluded to back in March by the Japanese market announcement but officially announced for the US today. R35 production will end this fall after 17 years. Its been a hell of a run and this GTR changed the industry forever. So honored to have been there from the start and even made a career out with NAGTROC in the US. With the next GTR almost assured to move to a solid state battery the Z will be the last of ICE Nissan sports cars

Didn't read article yet.
Wonder when will prices will start to increase?

In time no question it will continue to go up now that there is a finite number and the fact the successor will be something totally different.... clean low mile mostly stock /special editions and NISMO R35s will eventually all be treated like the cars of past generations we have longed for. market could go up and down in the near term based on outside factors but longer term the R35 will be looked at and sought after how the older Supras NSX and even heritage GTRs are now.

The remaining GTRs on dealer lots will probably go up immediately. I think the used market will still be subject to the rise and fall of the typical market factors for a while....but long term the very nice examples will command a nice premium even though there are 17 years of these in the wild

End of an era. I know people labeled it a “computer on wheels” when it first came out (mostly due to no manual). But how many new supercars can you still buy with hydraulic power steering? Even the Z went EPS due to the VR30. It still has a V6 with 2 turbos and no hybrid component in sight. Shit, they didn’t even bother giving it a digital instrument cluster even though the Z got one. Compared to today’s performance car market, it definitely is one of the only analogue dinosaurs. Some might say that’s bad, others (like myself) say they prefer it. One thing is for sure though, the R35 left its mark on the automotive world. Race in peace Godzilla, for the time being anyway. We all know it’s gonna get replaced with some soulless iphone on wheels.

allocation criteria for the final GTRs

Dear Nissan Retailers, Sunsets always come before a new dawn approaches. Today, Nissan will announce the culmination of this generation's Nissan GT-R for the U.S. and Canada markets in October. The GT-R has delivered supercar performance and excitement for more than 17 years in this market, showcasing Nissan's daring DNA and commitment to thrill customers at every turn. We are recognizing the closing chapter of this generation with two, limited-edition versions - the 2024 Nissan GT-R T-Spec Takumi Edition and the Skyline Edition. These special versions celebrate GT-R's heritage and pay. homage to the Takumi artisans responsible for producing the legendary VR38DETT engines. Here is a reminder of the allocation methodology announced in March for the MY24 GT-R Special Editions:
  • Any dealer with 50 or more cumulative lifetime retail sales of Nissan GT-R as of the end of April 2024 will be eligible to receive 2 special edition units (1 T-spec Takumi Edition and 1 Skyline Edition).
  • Dealers selling fewer than 50 units will be ranked according to cumulative lifetime retail GT-R sales as of the end of April 2024. These dealers will be offered 1 unit in rank order until all available production is claimed.
  • Any ties between dealers with the same cumulative GT-R volume will be broken based on 12 Rolling Months of Total Nissan Sales.
  • Dealers must be "GT-R certified" as of the end of April 2024 to be eligible for the Special Editions' allocation.
The tentative wholesale release of the 2024 GT-R Special Editions will occur in the summer FY24. I want to thank our retailers who have played a key role in bringing this generation's GT-R to enthusiastic customers and created an unforgettable legacy. Now it's time for the next chapter, one that will engage and thrill loyal GT-R fans with even more performance and technology excitement. Be assured that we are now hyper-focused on the future and the next era of exciting innovation in performance. At the start of FY24, we announced The Arc mid-term plan, outlining concrete actions to deliver the right product at the right time to meet customer needs and to increase sales across the region by 330,000 units in FY26. Our efforts are focused on a balanced portfolio that prepares us for the future, launching new electrified models (battery electric, e-POWER and plug-in hybrid) that will cover all segments and continue to create loyal fans. Stay tuned for what's to come - it's going to be great!

spoke with the sales manager here at Nissan of Irvine, CA and he said they are forsure getting 1 of the models. Not sure if it's going to be Takumi or Skyline. He did say it'll be marked up $100K and will sit until its sold with that markup lol:cwl:

I was recently contacted by Mizuno-San the original director of the R35 program and he wanted me to share a book he has written about the development of the R35 and his philosophies regarding the GTR and engineering. Its not going to be for everyone as yes its a $2K carbon fiber book so more like a premium collectible instead of traditional casual bookstore purchase. I was honored he remembered me from the NAGTROC days and reached out asking for my help to share it with US based GTR owners. I know there is some overlap ownership with the GTR and Z in this group so wanted you all to check it out.

This is an interview of him explaining some of the technologies he developed from Nissan's group C racing program and used for the R35. You get a good sense of what the book is about and his overall conviction.
