So I’ve been calling around Florida, all of Florida and asking about any news about the new Z that’s coming out. I’m promptly greeted with oh the new 400z? No, the new Z. I politely ask if anyone knows about Zs or is an enthusiast that might be able to answer any questions about them. I’m always told of that’s me. Right…..

Currently out of the 20 dealerships I’ve talked to there was one that gave me any kind of hope that I might be able to get somewhere. I’m beyond disappointed with Nissan and the lack of information being pushed to dealerships and their employees. How is Canada able to preorder today and the US left talking to dealerships about a 400z? I guess I’ll wait for them to hit dealership lots and find a 10k market adjustment on them. Also if we do get the option of preordering in the near future, does that mean we are at the mercy of whatever dealership our preordered Z gets sent to and the markup we will find?

Firstly…just because we have pre orders don’t be mistaken for thinking we have information.

Dealers still know Jack, no price, no delivery, and most dealers do not even know what variants etc.

secondly…if you do get pre orders (and I hope you do) I hope it works as it does in Australia.
you fill in your details and then a list of dealerships closest to you will appear, you can chose which ever one you want, and you can even select from outside the ones that appear. I hope it happens but I doubt it will. The reason why it works in Canada and Aus is because we DONT have mark ups, because you do they probably want to give you the opportunity to shop around rather than being automatically stung with an online purchase

i do understand your frustrations though

I’m mainly just complaining. I’m not saying dealerships outside the US know more or are any better. I’m just shocked that you can preorder a vehicle and then call a dealership and have absolutely no information about it or even the name of it. Just stumps me.

Right there with ya, bud (the FL dealership struggle, especially). If you're willing to share, which dealership gave you hope of something going somewhere?

Given the aggressive advertising/marketing push, I'll be floored if we don't have concrete details in a few weeks around the Super Bowl. Maybe things will start moving in a positive direction then?

Honestly this whole roll out is pretty embarrassing. Nissan has been saying since the reveal of the production Z that the Z won't be available for pre-order. So did they mean only in the U.S.? I have no idea, but either way it's a shit show.

If that’s true it would be for the US. AUS and CA can preorder. So that would leave just us.

You are 10th in line to a dealership that will potentially get 5 allocations for the year. They are just handing out reservations with empty promises of you getting one. Say they actually deliver and you get the chance to purchase, you are then at the mercy of them charging whatever they want for it.

This asking US dealers has gone round n round, same stories. Forget it guys, check back in May, maybe April. Even that '$k ADM' guy at Orr Nissan has been quiet. We will ONLY get allocations, no guarantee pre-orders anyway. Nissan has problems here, ugh! Why I gave up for now.

Have you tried DeLand Nissan in DeLand (a little ways north of Orlando)? They are one of the better dealers around, and have sold a lot of GT-R's over the years. That's where I will likely be buying my Z a couple years from now to join alongside my current 370Z.

I’ve just accepted that this will go the same route as every other vehicle currently for sale. My biggest heart ache is knowing that I might not have the potential to be an original owner of a new Z without having to pay over MSRP.

I’ve called almost every dealership in Florida.

The Z will be a slow rollout because Nissan is doing a huge renovation to the Tochigi factory where the Z is made- a total revamp of how they do their production line. The chip shortage isn't helping either.

I'm in the same boat as you, getting really annoyed with the dealerships around me not knowing jack shit. I'm the 1-5 on few dealerships around me and told them I will not be paying any markups.
I'm willing to buy from another state if that means I don't have to pay any markups.
