Hood struts done. Install very easy and straight foward. Only thing was the damn thing was so resistant when closing hood but once it got going it was normal. The blue match was a nice touch

Looks great. Do you have a link? Any concern bending the hood?

Nothing like a Vette. C7 Z06 was beautiful, Amazing power! amazing acceleration and speed. But it sat in garage too much. Special trips only, kinda impractical to use more often. The Z, and my old 370, are great around town, everyday drivers, and Lots of Fun. Z is an auto, so wife uses it allot (even though she can drive a stick).
I guess I'm not the only former-vette-to-Z guy.
I see some really affordable C6's, maybe for your project.
Enjoy!
I like the C6's and the 2007+ with the LS3 is probably the best V8 that GM ever made. Possibly the best V8 engine ever produced.

I really dig the pre 1990 C4's though with this super retro digital dash. The C4 body is just amazing looking (to me) too. Also I kind of have a thing for flip-up headlights.

I never had a Vette but I was looking at C7s also. But since I needed a daily and I'm not retired, I felt like a car with warranty was in my best interest and wanting a manual trans kinda limits what I was interested in. I was gearing towards a new Mustang (I've owned 3 S550s) but the one I wanted was $67K...a bit more than I really wanted to spend. The Z is 80% of what I want, some money and parts will get me to about 95% lol. The lack of a backseat and storage space in the trunk being the remaining 5% but there's nothing I can do about that lol!
Yeah thats one thing Corvette did right was the storage was always really good for a 2-seater coupe.

the other day, had a conversation with my neighbor. It went like this:

Neighbor: "hey I like your Nissan. What model is it?
Me: "it's a Nissan Z (the newest model after 350z/370z)"
Neighbor: "oh nice. Is it electric? it looks electric."
Me: "no no, not yet at least."

Does it bow the hood when closed? Does the strut touch any of the body panels when the hood is closed?

During my oil change, i unplugged the oil pressure solenoid. FYI, Im still stock tuned and didnt want to have another failure point that could cause disaster if it failed

Removed the 2 bolts and unclipped the 2 plastic fasters and the bracket falls out. Hardest part was unclipping the harness

It didnt change anything visually. Oil pressure stayed the same. I was going to let it hang under the AC comp, but ziptied it to the bracket. Not sure how long the ziptie will last, and will check the condition on my next oil change. Most likely, will move it back under the comp

If you dont know, read this link from Mark Roberts at SonicTuned

It really is surprising how badly advertised the Z was to the point people think it's all new and electric. too many screens and blah blah blah..... it's honestly one of the simplest modern cars you car buy as fare as modern gadgets etc goes. Which is why I like it

Drove her to work again, found my daily rock chip on the front fascia.

I've never had a car get so many chips in the paint from flying rocks, I've had it for a month and I've found over 30 chips in the fascia, a gouge in the roof, and 3 that would have hit me in the face if I didn't have a windshield. One of those cracked a bullseye in the glass right in my sight line.

Is this normal? I drive almost exclusively on the interstate and well paved highways, never experienced this much flying gravel in any other car driving the same route

I am having the opposite experience. The Z has way less rock chips than other sports cars I have had. 🤷‍♂️

My performance has the front chin spoiler and front fender extenders so maybe that is helping.

I got the front half of my nismo ppf'd, found a dime sized hole in the ppf that took an impact protecting the paint. Worthwhile purchase.
