Stay away from dealership mechanics. Rookies fresh out of Tech school. Paid beans and they have to rush to the next car for sales volume $$$. Find a 50 year old experience mechanic at a mom and pop Auto mechanic or Autobody shop with years of experience and who builds relationships with its customers on a personal level

It is! Nissan is bad about it too, in the insurance quote they use MSRP prices, when I, who doesn’t even work with Nissan, can get a 10-15% discount on almost all parts they installed on the Nissan parts website. (If you notice how almost all parts are on sale on the website) I even compared to the itemized repair quote. The dealership is making about 5k in inputting msrp and ordering off that discount. On top of that, taking their sweet time. Now I get a call that the warranty which usually gets accepted in 24-48 hours is still being reviewed after 7 days since I put in the request. Stuck here, could even still get totaled after 4 months. Imagine that! I appreciate your comment though, all I can do is complain!! I wish Nissan had better customer service, stopped robbing people, and stood the f up to be a good company! Starting with I hate to say it but fixing the damn car I bought new!!
I feel your pain and sympathize ! Been there before!

I definitely learned my lesson this time. I’d recommend staying away from Nissans shops to anyone else as well if they’re in an unfortunate situation like mine. The only upside I have had is that Nissan corporate has been able to have a direct line with the dealership and me at the same time. So I get calls every 3 days with updates on parts etc since I have an open case that’s basically open until my car is fixed. Other than that Nissans customer service and dealer service is pure garbage. They have called me once in 4 months only bc I left a voicemail. I appreciate your comment though, still holding on and hopefully it’ll be fixed soon.

What’s really getting to me is the fact I talked to the GM of the dealership after leaving a detailed experience like I wrote here and all he could say to me was “there’s better ways to go about this than to be hostile” when I haven’t really been. And “your car should’ve been totaled” like really dude? The 75% rule is at 33.75k based off a 45k retail price. Repairs adding up to 29k max and this guy has the nuts to say that to me. And when I asked him “how could I have gone about this better?” He said “have a good day” and hung up the phone like he’s hot busy shit. Won’t name the guy or the dealership, but it’s the only collision shop for Nissan in downtown Nashville. They should lose their business. In the middle of Nissan country leaving a bad name to the company.

Back in the 70's, I had a Mercury Capri II. A bunch of electrical stuff stopped working. No windshield wipers, headlights etc. I checked things out under the hood while eating a jam sandwich. Spilled some jam. Took car to a Mercury. They said I needed to completely replace the harness there was another issue with the "wet mold" by the engine. I told them it was jam. I took the car home, put together the schematics and determined that a connector between the engine bay and the cockpit was loose. Pushed together, all worked fine. Dod not cost me the hundreds (in 1970's money) the dealer wanted. The more cars are electronic, the more problems people will have with no one to fix them.

Let me share how I am with you my friend. Leave my car parked and return to this damage after just 11 hours once i finished work for the night. A hit and run ! only a month of ownership. I didn't want to go the insurance claim route because of it going on record as a collision and affecting my premiums. So I cleaned it buffed it and then took it to my affordable Dominican auto body shop . They did a fantastic job in only 2 days for 600.00$ . As you can see it's not noticeable and looks original now. I was afraid I had to buy the rear quarter panel which cost 1700$!!! New. But my Dominican Autobody guy said he could reshape repair it and repaint it. He saved me on insurance increase and out of pocket for a new rear quarter panel. If you could find a competent autobody shop and pay out of pocket if the repairs aren't more than 1500$ that would be great.

My Peters NISSAN Dealership in Nashua NH is great, I bought a 2009 370Z there, Z1 went bananas on it. Mechanic worked on it for 15 years even with all the upgrades. I just bought a 2024 Z Performance there. My mechanic got the 370z Twin-Turbo for $1.

This is my MO. Unfortunately your amazing mechanic will eventually retire. Good for them, but now you need to find a new mom and pop shop.

Stealerships should only be used for warranty/recall service. I've worked at 4 of them. Their not even to be trusted with an oil change. Of course not all of them are like that. If you buy enough cars from them they'll treat you like a king.
