I was given the Impression it's literally the orange from the fairlady customized Z. Dont know the color code of that car and if that was also a reused orange or not
That’s cool. I read somewhere that was a new color. It’s not the same looking as the two oranges they currently produce.

I just want more people to be able to actually purchase Z's. I cant help but think all these press releases are just putting an even worse taste in people's mouths. New Nismo, New parts, New colors, all this new stuff but no cars actually for sale. Especially at reasonable prices. Just seems odd for Nissan to focus on all this without actually getting cars out.
this is true from the outside looking in, but I can tell you that from within nissan there is a huge disconnect between the people responsible for the actual Z and the customer end. what I mean is the engineers and designers who come up with say the NISMO or the customized Fairlady parts are very compartmentalized. They are just tasked with developing new products ect. They have nothing to do with or even fully understand whats happening at the customer end.

so it doesnt give nissan a pass as a company but I have a better understanding now. First of the year I chatted with the actual designer of the Z back when I was trying to find my Z. A super passionate guy loves the Z and is all about the owners but you could see how he is so far removed from anything remotely related to supply and production.

same thing a few weeks ago I got to spend a good bit of time talking to the director of NISMO global. literally the guy in charge of both motorsports and all NISMO production cars. super nice guy but after a few minutes speaking with him I also realized he was totally removed from anything related to supply chain to customer.

So I was asking about a NISMO Z and what my options were ect. he started talking about working with dealers ect.... which yes was company line to a degree but it really is genuinely how these guys see it. Obviously anyone at nissan at that level is aware of the difficult roll out of this car but I dont think it nuanced to the real issues many are going through.

best example is when I started to explain how dealers in the US up to this point just kind of get what they get and there was no way to order the car you wanted I felt he legitimately wasnt aware. I told him this was one of the most glaring issues that dealers had all the leverge. that I had a handful of dealers who would do MSRP but there was no way for them to guarantee they would get the car or even the color/trim. This puts you at the mercy of a dealer that happens to have what you want. could be a honest dealer or could be a greddy POS. you are playing dealer roulette to buy a Z instead of just putting the order in and waiting.

but playing devils advocate....In japan you can order a Z and even though its hard to believe there are over 5K back orders for the Z maybe even 6K. so they really arnt in a better place being able to order.

the new NISMO for example will be limited to 1K total and customers in japan who currently have a order for a Z can change it to a NISMO but not new orders will be allowed.

It's still weird to me that 2024 Z's are already being allocated to dealers but yet they cannot order or even see the new color. I heard about the orange like a month ago. Not sure if it's a late year Introduction or if they are just waiting to the press release. Japan is getting the customized fairlady parts as dealer options in October not sure if it's a tie in with that around that time. The 2024 press release is coming between now and Aug 1
I wonder if the automated paint process and the delays that were written about recently are related to this at all. Maybe they're unsure how much of the orange they'll be able to make?

I'm starting to think Canada will be in the spring/summer 2024 now. lmao. They have thousands of backorders/reservations and waiting lists up here. Still no light at the end of the tunnel. No "new" "inventory" in months. I think we probably have hit our delivery quota for the year. Summer is in full swing. Social media is telling you they're just "rolling in". But, that is so far from the case.

Ordering a specific car, vs random allocation doesn't really seem to mean shit. 527 days and counting now, since my dealer was able to place a sold-unit order in their system.

Ariya is the same problem up here. People from Jan/Feb 22 still waiting for any drip of information from their dealers as to what's going on with their Ariya.

Nissan Canada says contact your dealer, your dealer says we have no idea.

I get them putting out possibly new colors, stripe packages and what not. But, it's got to be bad optics to offer more stuff they cannot deliver.

so bringing up the Ariya is relevant because not only does it seem to be suffering from some of the paint issues at the factory, because the Ariya represents nissan perceived future ( electrification) it has been give a massive priority over the Z for production. Those cars are on the same line so part of the Z's production limitations are because of the Ariya even existing regardless of any other factors. Think of it as future being pushed over the past

full disclaimer this is pure speculation based on some very interesting bit of info I just stumbled across. I found evidence of a trim level code that replaces the outgoing proto for 2024. the proto was listed at PRS2 for 2023 and now there is a PRS3 that has been listed as of June. Is this a replacement for the Proto and a trim offered above the performance?

here goes.... what if the reason the orange isnt available for current 2024 allocations is ....its only available on this new specific trim and that trim is a production verison of the 432 inspired custom Fairlady)

again this is just speculation but it would explain why the orange is indeed real but dealers cant order it yet. also its 100% fact the customized parts will be sold in Japan this October so they are being produced.

with that said the main reason why I dont totally think this is true is the color for the new orange that popped up listed within nissan parts was for a current part ( spoiler) of the Z which wouldnt be on that new trim.

we are either getting a new color or a new trim of both.

the color code I believe might be "ECD" and its a modern interpretation of Orange 918 some of you old school Z people might know

Actually 2023 orders dont exist anymore sorry 😀. On a serious note I wouldn’t be surprised if they just open deposits again for the 24 model and judging by the time frames again we wont see them until late 2024

update

did some digging and the orange 918 is also called "new sight orange" and this the probably the actual name they are bringing back at least for the North American market where I was told in Japan it might be known as 432 orange

similar to how they brought back Midnight purple and bayside blue in the GTR world but they were different codes. so more of a tribute color

Ok so orange confirmed like I said and yellow still seems to be hanging around so it's an addition not a replacement at least for the JDM.

Also those who in other threads speculating that there aren't many red Zs because of the paint issues. You could possibly be right as the info stated red Zs would be delayed. If you own one you are lucky
