To clarify I was was talking about how if you put the 9AT in manual mode, the “shifting” is basically like a sequential. You can’t skip gears similar to a sequential and you can use paddles to control shifting. In that sense, they’re pretty much the same thing. Internally one’s a planetary box and the other is a true sequential race box so they’re incomparable. I thought the other poster was talking about the actual shifting action instead of what the thing is mechanically.
Ok, yes both are activated by paddles. That is really the only similarity. Important to clarify the sequential is in no way suitable for daily driving. It would actually hurt your enjoyment of the car.

If they're moving to this aero kit, what are they going to do with the spares/used aero from last years gt4 cars?

The 2024 GT4 is a totally different car the teams are using. I'm not sure what they do with the old cars. Maybe sell them to privateer race team or something.

I already looked into this about a year ago. I wanted the aero from the 2023 GT4.

Short answer: No.

Long answer: if you buy a GT4 ready race car, you can get limited spare parts for it. Every spare part sale is strictly monitored, so you can't really even buddy up with someone who races one and buy a spare one from them.

The parts are also stupid expensive, even if you do find someone willing to risk trying to get them for you.

I was asking more from a behavior perspective. When you're using the paddle shifters, is there a way to skip gears? I don't have the 9AT, so I haven't bothered to learn much about it. I'd guess that in some "manual" modes the 9AT will basically shift for you if you stop paying attention to the paddles (for example if you come to a stop without down shifting), but is there a mode where it won't, and in that mode can you skip gears?
Just looking to shine some light here. The sequential transmission has a clutch pedal for when the car is stopped. You have to put the clutch in, paddle into 1st and work the clutch to get going. I would totally daily one if it was not crazy expensive.

yeah I got to watch them running through the gears when it was on its air jacks and those gears hit hard.

It is so amazing that Nissan built a factory GT4 Z. If only they made a GT3 car pushing the Z to a higher level.
