Couple random questions about the area. How’s the car scene / culture? And also, how are the road / highway conditions as in smooth sailing or constantly dodging potholes and bumps everywhere?

Just saw this. I am in SF/Oakland.

Lots of good driving in the area and lots of cars to drive on those roads. This is from yesterday.

That looks like Alice's at HWY 35 and 84. It's been a great car and bike hang out for years. Good restaurant too.

The car scene is really an active and familial one. Everybody knows the good shops, detailers, etc. Lot of entrepreneurs, and if you've been here long enough, everybody sort of knows each other. With this, there are a lot of great cars and coffees held on a regular basis and then the occasional "paid" events with vendors, food, music, etc. No shortage of culture - even extending to Sacramento and the Central Valley.

Roads, it all depends. The high volume commute roads need to be repaired and improved. If you're somebody that dodges potholes (I am) you'll find yourself doing that a lot in the Bay Area. But there are plenty of great canyon/back roads in the Bay Area. Some are more known than others.
