Does your Z scrape on driveways, etc.

I found that my G35 would sometimes scrape bottom, for example if I drove over a tall speed bump. When I got the G37 that problem went away. It never scraped.

Now that I have the Z, I find my car scraping in certain situations. My car is stock, so low, but not lowered. However, sometimes entering a driveway or whatever, I'll hear a scraping noise. Not sure exactly what's scraping: the chin spoiler, the air deflectors in front of the front tires. Something else?

How's your car doing?

I've heard a couple light scrapes a few times and it seems it's almost always the air deflectors Infront of the tires as if you run your finger across the bottom edge you can feel where its a little rough. So at least for me it's not the front lip or under the bumper and doesn't even seem to be the chin spoiler either.

No issues here but I go rather slow over speed bumps. However the one street that has the "your speed" radar sign is one I look at as a challenge.

Ouch! One way to verify it would be to put some masking tape, like the 3M blue, on the place in question. If it ends up scuffed or torn, you’ll know for sure that’s the location.

Yeah, the owner's manual also mentions removing the air deflectors if you have the car transported.

For me it's not so much speed bumps in the Z but driveways. The G35 didn't like speed bumps. One time I drove by a "your speed" sign and there was a motorcycle officer standing under it with a radar gun pointing to people to pull over, so watch out for that. 🤣

I like the masking tape idea, I'll give that a go.

I think it's another task to adjust to the new car: learning to recognize problem pavement transitions, and how to approach them.

front lip scraped on driveways, but I consider it a sacrificial part. It is easy to source and replace if it gets too munched up.

I dropped my 1" all round, and the scraping was intolerable, so I put Air Cups in the front. No more scraping :)

I ran over one of those parking lot end curbs and scraped the right side bottom. I'll have the dealer look at it when I take it in for my break-in oil change, but it's probably nothing.

I entered a gas station driveway a little fast and scraped the front.

Results.

Driver side air deflector looks like had a big scrape. The chin spoiler unaffected.

Chin spoiler on the passenger side had a small scrape, but the air deflector in the background is unaffected.

My wife's fully stock 2020 Corolla hatchback scrapes everything.

When I was younger, I appreciated a lower stance, so I'm not complaining.

But, at certain angles, some of the chin spoiler scrapes can be seen.

My Q60 scrapes sometimes too.

Just means your ride is looking good!

Interesting. At least now we know the ā€œculprits,ā€ and as suspected. ;)

I can attest that the Z will not clear a dead deer. While merging onto an interstate with trucks bumper to bumper at 70 mph I did not see the deer soon enough in the acceleration lane to avoid it. Loud thump and that was it. After driving 200 miles with no problems and stopping for fuel someone pointed out we had something dragging under the car. It was a 3 foot long leg, or what was left of it! It took someone with long arms to reach under and pull it out. Doesn’t seem to be any damage, but I’ll have it checked at the next oil change.

Yikes! Sounds like my Z vs Helmet experience, but way more grisly. Thanks for not posting photos.šŸ˜‰

Glad someone was willing to reach in and grab that thing lol!

I have a decent incline into my garage and my car is really close to scraping. If I lower it it'll definitely scrape. Im already looking into building some little ramps / planks to get in.
