How much difference will an LSD really make for daily driving?

Y'all are generally quite correct about LSD vs. open diff and VSC, especially during reasonable driving.

However, anyone froggy enough will still be able to lose control in this car (and most any modern car) despite VSC, open diff or LSD. All it takes is someone to be at 99% of the limit to make a dumb mistake and go WOT, VSC won't have time to realize what happened.

If someone doesn't understand the vehicle they are driving and are unsure if it's safe probably should be focused on their own driving behavior....

Not just Altimas. Take a look at the wrecked Supras thread on the sister forum - an LSD didnā€™t save any of those guys from losing controlā€¦ or from other idiot drivers (RIP Mimosaā€™s buildā€¦ that one I just feel bad about).

Truth. Can't make something idiot proof... they just breed better idiots.

Exactly šŸ˜„

A good portion of these stories, particularly when they occur in sports cars, begin with something approximating "I turned off the stupid nanny systems and..."

Remember that lunatic who turned off ESC in his 812 and caned the throttle in London?! Classic error.

I mean I'm a good driver, just haven't had a car with 400 hp and was wondering what to expect with an open diff since the performance is slightly out of my budget. I honestly don't think VSC will ever come off so I'm not like super worried or anything

That's really kind of you, thank you for that. I am in VA so I may take you up on that if I'm ever able to grab one of these things

I've only done it a few times, (am I a pro?), but what I can say, It's pretty trippy and cartoon like. šŸ¤Ŗ What was the question again?

Having the LSD on my 23 Z helped a lot where I live. I had to drive from Pocatello to Salt lake City Airport. About 182 miles each way. The trip down, it was snowing in the mountains and heavy rain in the valley's. There was ice and puddles I had to traverse. My Z did not skip a beat. She did hydroplane but stayed true and straight. Any time the Ass end loss traction it was extremely easy to keep it under control.
I dont track race anymore, to old and reflexes are not even close to when I raced back in the 80's. So I cannot comment on that.
That is just my personal experiance.
I will be taking her on a very fun Mountain 2 lane here in a couple days, and will report back on that.

I'm no expert on the subject, but people are making the Z Sport out to be a squirrely death trap because of the open diff. I can see the benefit of an LSD on the track but what about daily (occasionally spirited) driving? The sport model is right within my budget but the things I've been reading about sports cars with open diffs are a little worrying to me.
I have a 2024 Sport MT that I've recently equipped with the Nismo GT 1.5 way LSD, and daily driving there is a noticeable sound of the clutch plates engaging and casual chatter but at higher speeds it goes away, corners and under acceleration the car feels significantly more stable and susceptible to being neutral while having the tendencies of the driver, so it will over steer or under steer if you want it to. It also depends on your LSD offerings, the Nismo one is more aggressive than what is offered in the Performance model.

this car should not be offered with a peg leg option. however the traction control is a decent reactive solution. just not a fan of relying on traction control when there is a much better solution.

the good news is itā€™s an easy mod to fix.

Well, I got my first oil change and took my Sport on some country roads in Sport and Manual modes. The car is a beast. Electronics do fine. In a calculated curve on a track where youā€™re working to shave tenths of a second, yes the LSD will definitely provide a more stable exit, but I donā€™t miss the LSD at all for what I do.
