I never owned a manual and I want to get the new Z in manual. I will be learning to drive using my friend’s Honda Civic.

would it be a dumb idea to get the z in manual? Should i buy another manual car to learn with and then upgrade to the Z?

I taught myself to drive a manual in about 15 minutes. You'll be fine. No shit, watching the Gone in 60 Seconds remake and actually seeing the footwork did wonders. Hop on YouTube and watch some Option Auto (or pretty much any racing videos that have pedal cams).

Echoing everyone else in here—you'll be fine. Fortunately, you're learning in the age of YouTube, so you have so much guidance at your disposal versus how some of us learned (a very patient parent, a weekend afternoon, and a parking lot).
Mine was a hungover drive back from Mexico in an IROC-Z Camaro.

You'll be fine. I learned how to drive manual when I bought my 2012 Z. Drove it approx 15 miles in an abandoned Walmart parking lot where I got it delivered. Had my friend with me who essentially guided me. + synchroRev helps as well to get used to downshifting prior to learning heel toe.

Yeah you'll be fine. I wouldn't recommend jumping right into traffic or hills on your first day learning but utilize some empty parking lots or backstreets and you'll learn in no time.

I love the positivity in this thread!, You shall be fine!, if you are nervous, go out at nights when roads are empty. Just remember, being nervous is the worst thing, if you stall and someone is behind you, don't care about what they think, if they honk just focus on getting your car rolling again. Have fun learning !
