And with the Q50/60 and Skyline gone they have production over-capacity. Given the state of Nissan these days, and the huge cuts announced... there is little worse than assembly overhead.

Maybe just in Japan? Probably not. Seems like non-JDM can't carry this car.

That's unknown North America (and a small amount to Australia and middle East) are the only other markets. US gets the main production priority already but not sure if it would make sense to produce if this does happen in the JDM

I’m just happy to hear production may continue till summer 2026. All things considered I was expecting production could end sooner. Hopefully not.

It wouldn't make sense for a car Made in Japan, be continued for export... Sad to see it end this way, kinda reminds me of the last few years of the Z32. Maybe this is just history rhyming, 10 years later we shall see the z35? one could hope

I didn't read the details, but couldn't Nissan just nerf the JDM Z exhaust, make it super quiet? And, really Japan, do y'all have a problem with noise pollution from vehicles, or does Japan have the same problem as the West with bored bureaucrats looking to pad their resume?

Japan currently has a population crisis, only one newborn for every 2 deaths.
And this is what they spend their time on?
Making a country less fun doesn't fix y'all's actual real problems!

It would make sense just to do that. There is also a great amount of aftermarket support to change the exhaust after the fact

I agree, it's mainly political government over reach

All the doom and gloom assumes that Japan will actually implement these noise restrictions with the same proposed provisions and on the same time line as in the article.

If Nissan follows Delorean then we are all screwed for OE parts. Parts will be marked up like crazy. Z1 marks up OEM parts quite a bit. So I should sell my Z and cut my losses now before I end up paying $90 for an oil filter or $180 for a TPMS??🤣

yeah GTR production for the US ended in October. the GTR in Japan had to totally redo the exhaust for 2024 model to comply with noise regulations and one of the many reasons it ended was it could not comply with the 3rd phase of regs next year. The other reasons for the GTRs end was it did not have an auto braking system which is required in Japan now and the main reason was after 18 years nissan could no longer guarantee supply chain consistency needed for production
