Hey everyone,
Just wanted to share my soundproofing journey with the community.
I’ve been measuring cabin noise in my 2023 Nissan Z Performance using my Apple Watch at around 60 mph. On smooth roads, it averages about 74 dB, but on rough surfaces it spikes to 82 dB — definitely too loud for my taste on longer drives.
One thing I’ve noticed is that the open cargo area creates a bit of an echo, which makes the road noise feel even worse. So, first week of May, I’m getting a professional to install two layers of deadening material on the doors, cargo space, and floor. Hoping to cut down the noise by at least 6-8 dB.
I also asked about ceramic window tint — I’d read that it might help reduce cabin noise — but the installer said it won’t make a noticeable difference in this case. Anyone here had a different experience with tint helping reduce noise?
I’ll share back with before/after measurements and impressions. Curious if anyone has done a similar upgrade — would love to hear your results or tips!
