Yeah, really cool to be "rare" unless you're trying to keep one 10 years after they're no longer made.

There will be parts shortages, both new and used, if not enough Zs are around. Not going to be fun.
And I highly doubt 10 years from now most Z enthusiasts will have options on the new car market to upgrade to.

On aside, the first 2 years of the Z are pretty disappointing. Only 300-ish sold? Ouch.

I hope the numbers keep going up, if Nissan would offer more of the affordable Sport trim, and possibly a Sport+ variant that is basically a Sport with the LSD and Akebonos, I could see them selling a bit more. Currently, making mostly $53k+ versions of a small 2 seater in a poor economy doesn't bode well for overall sales.
The good news with the Z is its' engine and parts are used in quite a few other Nissan / Infiniti vehicles.

I thought about that, but.,...

The Infiniti models used the 7AT, there was no MT version Infiniti, only the Red Sport had the 400hp version, most were the 300hp variant, and Nissan made many updates to the VR30 in the Infiniti models before the Z existed.

So I'm not sure there's all that much that is directly compatible. I'm sure in a pinch some older revision parts could be used, they'll mostly bolt up.

Agree - future issues with parts will be an issue on the Z but I'd still buy one and drive it for a few years.

These are alarmingly pathetic sales numbers which cannot possibly keep an entire assembly line open... Especially with the end of the Q and Skyline. Given the financial state of the company, this can't be justified much longer.
The goodwill of Nissan cant make up for this.

I can’t believe living in the Houston area that I have not seen one Z outside a dealership. I see Supras on a fairly regular basis. I’m sure I will see the Z on the road at some point. Watch me have multiple sightings now that I have written this.
I've seen maybe 5 in the wild since launch.

1 Proto (Yellow) on Beltway 8 North by Greenspoint, Early '23
2 Sports (Gunmetal, Rosewood) in Chinatown on the same day, Lunar New Year '24
1 Performance (Black) in River Oaks, July '24
1 Sport (White) in Fulshear with Christmas Lights stuck to it, November '24

Your 300 number is WAY off. Per McNISMO in the 2023 Sales Figures So Far thread, sales for 2022 (when they started shipping only in the 3rd quarter) and 2023, total over 2,000 units, and in 2024 Nissan sole 3164 new Zs. So 5,198 units so far and the rate is increasing. And predicting a dismal future for any car is always popular, but predictions are often very wrong. (just ask Hillary or Kamala...)

Certainly Nissan will continue as a brand and it is hard to imagine that the Z is doomed anytime soon. If you are sure of that, you should starting buying new repair/replacement parts now and in 30 or 40 years you can make a fortune selling New Old Stock parts to those of us who keep their Zs a long time. <grin>

I love the new Z and hope to keep it for as long as I've had my 240Z. (That will mean I'll have to live to 124, but I remain optimistic! :D )

I bought my Everest White Performance 9at in October and then BOOM the very next morning I head-nodded to an Everest White Nismo near my street in the Nashville area. We IM'd on this site but I've not had a chance to reach out yet due to work. Also have not seen another Z around here. I do get looks and high-fives from other drivers.

I still can't believe I haven't seen one in the wild.

Two weeks ago I tried to buy a 6MT Performance in white/blue, but the salesman was seriously annoying and the dealer had a $2k addendum for wax.

I'm kinda pissed he posted that, lol. I love mine, but I'd have had the sales-guy pinned against the wall breathing all hot and heavy in his face waiting on the paperwork.... "give it to me... give it to me..." They'd have had me outta there in less than 10 minutes signing shit on a clip-board walking me to the car if I'd have seen that in person, lmao.

also another thing that's probably helping is the price going down at the dealerships.

ive been away from this forum for a bit and didn't realize it had gone down as much... didn't seem that long ago stealerships were asking 10-20k over msrp.

Some of the crazy ones still are! Why anyone would agree to pay a markup I'll never understand...
