I don't know how one would even measure 2-6inch lbs of torque as per their instructions for those bolts. I tried looking for a torque wrench that could go that low, nada. 5inch lbs was the minimum. I asked around and was told to just snug them by hand til their tight and that's it. Same goes with the banjo bolts for the brakes. I guess any aluminum bolt should be treated with extreme care and are not to be torqued too tightly. I'm learning. Next time I read instructions I'm gonna just start asking questions like "what material are the bolts?".
On my Honda SXS & 4-wheeler (aluminum bolts), I just use my smallest, 1/4 inch ratchet & bump them tight.
You can almost feel how weak they are, nearly stripped them, once.
Good luck.

Bump meaning a small bump on the wrench when the bolt first gets tight? Like 1/4 turn tight? How do I apply that kind of technique when dealing with a gasket? Z1 says to tighten in two phases (for the aluminum oil pan). 1st phase is 2.1" lbs then 6.2" lbs. I was thinking to just threadt them in snug, then add a quarter turn to each bolt.

The same panel on my 2009 370z says otherwise ;)
It's almost like it was designed that way
A short occy strap will be enough to hold the half flap back Bodo.
but it folds forward, and without a hoist it is in your way when on the ground.

NO NO NO NO! In all likelihood, a 1/4 turn will be death to that bolt!

Torque = force x distance.

We are talking about a unit of torque equal to the force of 6.2 pounds acting perpendicularly to an axis of rotation at a distance of 1 inch from the center.

Get a ruler. Hold it with 1" sticking out. Then, hang a small house cat on the end of that 1" protrusion. That will set your calibrated arm to feel what 6.2" pounds feels like. Then, when you twist, use that much force 1" down the shaft of your ratchet, while applying COUNTERTORQUE over the top of the bolt head (The only force should be in a rotation, and NOT pushing the bolt in any other vector).

So, if you move the cat 2" from the center, that cat will exert 2x the force. 4"? 4x the force.

BOLT REMOVAL:
To get the bolt out: Get a small, rusting nut. put it in vice grips. hold it OVER the bolt shaft. Stick a welder in the hole. spark it a few times. After it cools, hit the outside of the block with a blowtorch. Touch an ice cube to the rusting (Real steel) nut. GENTLY back it out.

(EDIT: Yes, I used humor to illustrate my point. However, it is meant as a way to illustrate how small inch pounds are. If you are allergic to cats, calibrate your arm by sticking the ruler out 6", and put a 1 pound weight on the end. )

Ok, too catch up in the past couple of weeks I installed my LDP's, exhaust and started my tune with Sonictuned. Also, maybe today will give the shift knob a shot and install new Emergency Brake Handle and boot for shifter. Also, on my 2nd version of artwork for livery so hopefully that will begin soon.

Oil change #5 at about 9300 miles and almost two years.

In other news: the safety inspection reports my original Protenzas are down to 3/32s in the rear. Woo hoo! Time for some new tires. PS4s, here I come.
Keep us updated on how you like them.

Your Z is still looking amazing!

Black is best though

Thanks! My Z is actually super dirty in this picture. I got rained on driving home from work last night. You can see detritus hanging down behind the rear tires. And don't take a close look at the grove across the rear bumper.

As for the color issue: we'll have to agree to disagree.

My advice that no one asked for…if you snap a bolt and have to drill/extract what’s left, I suggest running a tap in and spraying out the hole. Only takes a tiny chip of metal to screw up another bolt, or worse, what the bolt threads into. Also it could gall up the threads and bind, it looks tight and you think it’s tight, but it’s not. Def no bueno on an oil pan.

Don't make me dig up my description of inch lbs of torque!

Did you already try to drill it out?

Fortunately my right arm is calibrated to ft/lbs (left Is metric). My body automatically divides by 12 for in/lbs.

Speaking from experience on the rest. Jacked up a 4-40x0.5 hole on an $850 gear reducer at work (round counter for an A-10, 30mm ammo loader, 2 circled below). Fortunately the end plate was round so I was able to clock the plate 45 degrees and drill/tap new holes.

Always clean your holes.

Conqured shift knob - if you don't care it literally took 2 mins to get off with Snap On adjustable plier wrench. Love my new ebrake and leather boot and my weighted shif knob with leather boot. Weight of knob cleaned up messiness of 2nd gate LOVE IT. Patrick Galligan on FB hooked me up GREAT guy and great product. His IG is @Customebrakes - if you like hit him up.
