Later this year, I will be going to Z1. Will have all NISMO upgrades and Stillen Sway Bars by then. At Z1 get upgraded turbos and what ever else I need. I had a 2009 370. Went to Z1, added twin turbos and upgrades to handle the turbos: RWHP 512. A man named Jon did it. he still works there and he can tune my Z Performance with the new upgrades. Car ran great for 14 years. A mechanic at a Nissan Dealership worked on it since 2009. He got the car. Goes to shows and loves it.

I’m 2hrs from Z1 and planning for a ECUTEK dyno tune as well, but just i, dp & e bolts-ons. I’m shooting for 450WHP (assuming stock will do ~360whp on a dynojet) on Z1’s dynojet. Any idea what hp the stock fuel system can support?

Anyone on here have experience of the Ecutek tune from Z1 Motorsports?

I am thinking of getting their 2023+ Nissan Z EcuTek Performance Tuning Package - CARB LEGAL but not sure if there are any issues buying from Z1 Motorsports.

I am not sure if Ecutek tune really provides you with more horsepower gain or just a gimmick device??? I mean how do customers really know if the Ecutek device really gives you more power? We are talking about installing the Ecutek device at home and don't have the capability like a full blown tune shop.
ECUTEK is the best tuning solution available for the z hands down. It is simply software to allow re-programming the ECU. There is no hardware / no pigyback wiring needed for the car. The ”ECU Connect Interface” is just a wifi/bluetooth communication module that plugs into the car’s OBD service port to allow you to make changes. The tuner (like z1) take the factory ecu program and make changes (using ECUTEK PC software) based on your mods and sends it to you. you download the file to your car via a phone/pc. tuners have what know as “can tunes”. you can do street pulls and send the datalog file to the tuner and they can make improvements to the “can” tune for your car and mods. The next level is to take the car to an ECUTEK tuner and let them tune on a dyno Instead of you doing multiple streets runs. the dyno tune allows a tuner to make adjustments and instantly see the torque / power results. ECUTEK offers 3-4 tunes that you can select from the sterring wheel controls. One of these tunes can be a factory oem tune that you can switch to for service at the dealership. One of the tunes can be a de-tune (valet tune / 35mph school bus ride) with reduced top speed, reduced rev limiter, etc. to prevent joy rides. The only thing better would be if ECUTEK would sell the programming software to individuals.

so far performance gains - that depends on your mods. I think z1 quotes a 14whp peak gains at redline but 30-56whp from ~3,000- 4,500 rpm with a stock car (level 1 tune). That would feel nice on the butt dyno.

Great news!

I installed the Z1 Motorsports ECUTEK tune software this morning and everything went well.

I just have a few questions about the menu on the ECUTEK app:

1. The Switch Maps is showing 3 options and would like to know which option to pick:

93/91 Octane Low Boost

93 Octane High Boost

91 Octane High Boost

I live in Arizona and I believe I should select the 91 Octane High Boost and I use Premium Unleaded gas which has the pump number 91.

2. What is the Boost Controller? Do I need to make adjustments to have the best performance? There are 3 sliding bars:

Mode 1

Mode 2

Mode 3

Do I need to make any other adjustments in order to get the best performance for my Z?

Thanks for any advice!

The option allows you to decrease / increase boost. The boost controller is a regulator or boost limiter. more boost more power. So for each map you can select one of the 3 boost modes and you can set the boost level for each mode. Low=economy, high = max performance

You recommend setting it to the max level for all 3 boost modes? That will eat more gas correctly and will that damage the engine?

Z1 added the burble map to my tune but when I was driving around, I did not hear any burble sounds. I only hear the normal exhaust sounds like usual.

Are there other options to improve speed and performance?

Someone from Z1 Motorsports has told me to select the 91 Octane High Boost for my Z since I live in Arizona. He also recommends using motor oil 5w30. Since I recently came back from the dealership for an oil change, the next oil change I will let them know to use 5w30 from now on.

Thanks!

No need to have all 3 options set the same. You will only select and use one at a time. I assume that you are bone stock except for the ECUTEK. No harm in adjusting the boost. it is just a limiter. The ecu will still manage the boost level. a lower boost setting will help with fuel economy - maybe.

With the high boost setting, you can always control the boost with your right foot. The stock tunes are fairly harmless along with simple mods like intakes, downpipes, exhaust, etc.

now once you get into heavy mods and aggressive tuning like bigger turbos, fuel injectors, fuel system upgrades, aggressive timing, increased rev limiter the tuner, maps and settings become more critical.

I have attached 2 pictures of the ECUTEK settings just in case anyone is interested in buying the ECUTEK. It would be wonderful if Z1 Motorsports have a video on what these settings mean and how to adjust all of those settings.

I have no clue what these settings are supposed to do??? They need to go into detail for each setting.

Another thing I would like to add about ECUTEK from Z1 Motorsports. The delivery time for them to ship the ECUTEK to my home was only a few days. So the shipping was very quick. After I installed and sent them the information about my Z, it took them about 2 days to send me the installation files. The whole process from purchasing the ECUTEK and full installation was very fast. Installation was a breeze and very straightforward.

Only thing that was confusing is that they sent 2 files. One file is the tune file and the other file is the stock file. I didn't understand why there were 2 files. They told me to install the tune file only. The stock file is there just in case you want to put everything back in stock of your Z.

z1 can answer your questions as a tuner but ECUTEK should provide the help info. Since ECUTEK does not sell direct to the end user we are caught between the tuner and ECUTEK. With that said, there are lots of ECUTEK videos. Our engine (VR30) has been around for 10 years now. So you may want to search ECUTEK vr30.

it sound like you answered your own question about the two files. Did you do a rom dump before installing the z1 tune? did the tuner ask you to do a rom dump and send the file before receiving the z1 tune? Is the stock file the tuner sent from your car or just a stock map he already had?

maybe the tuner has a newer version of the stock map. Manufactures often revises the stock map but do not always offer the newer map to previous owners.

you should have downloaded the stock tune from your car via the rom dump feature before installing the z1 tune. once you load the new z1 tune the original stock map is gone.

maybe the tuner always provides a stock map in case you did not do a rom dump before installing the z1 tune. If there had been an issue with the z1 tune, the tuner was prepared to have you to re-load the stock map he sent.

I was told NOT to install the stock file and ONLY install the tune file. The installation was a success in the end. Driving the Z now is for sure quicker now. It's even more exciting to drive it now.

There is a video on YouTube but it's not the new Z model. He is showing how to turn on the burble and turn on the 3 different modes. I was able to follow his direction on the 3 modes but no luck on turning on the burble map. His Z setup is different and I was not able to follow his burble map direction:

you would only install the stock map if you wanted return the ecu back to stock.

as far as the burble, did you purchase the ecutek racerom option?

the tuner can create a map with burble or you can purchase the racerom option that offers a burble feature. the racerom option does not list the burble for the new z. So im not sure if the racerom has the burble feature.

Did you ask z1 about the burble feature? Going by the name, the 3 maps that you listed do not appear to have the burble feature. Good news is that the ECUTEK can switch between 4 maps. So z1 could add a 4th map with the burble feature. Z1 is little more conservative than other tuners, so they may not offer a burble map for boosted engines. Some think excessive burbling can harm turbos.
