? they are both at the rotary shop...

the baby blue one (aka papa smurf) is getting a new wiring harness to combat the usual gremlins.

the widebody (aka blue dorito) is getting an air-ride system and quick release front bumper set-up.

both are getting tow hooks for the front and back as well as all fluids flushed and replace.

not sure if you saw my pics i posted of them a while back when they picked them up. excuse the dirt, they were under car covers for months during winter.

i know most here seem like huge fans of the car. im really excited about it myself.
been lurking for a while and decided to join as we finally get closer to knowing all soon.

tl/dr: what will stop you from purchasing the new z?

so im coming from the point of buying a new dd. my current is an 05 x-runner, she has been a great ride and ive put over 230k miles on it.
was needing a dependable gas saver (lol...yeah right!) for my long commute. my wife suggested i get an suv, namely the subaru crosstrek.
im wanting an awd, but not sure if i was ready to give up rowing gears and being dropped low.

so i talked her into a wrx or sti. i came really close to buying one, but lost out on a few during bidding. also, the prices on them have skyrocketed.
the 2022 wrx has been delayed, but it is a whole new model. it sounds like it will be a great new platform. i kept seeing all the z talk over the past year and decided it was worth waiting and seeing how these turned out.

heres what will keep me from purchasing the z...

1. if the z ends up being way over the $35k starting price.
i could not justify this for a daily because of the ability to carry stuff i need for work occasionally, but i can still use the xrunner then.
or if the gas mileage is too bad (lol). my xr gets 15/19. im 75% sure i'll get one if all we've heard so far is true.
if those dont stop me, one of these other cars might...

2. 2022 wrx/sti
waiting to see specs & price. some are really excited about while others are meh. no one will know for sure until its announced, but im holding off just incase this ends up being the new car to have. the awd is the main seller for me with weather etc. also you can carry quite a bit plus more passengers. the gas mileage on the lower trims arent too bad. the sti? forget about it....

3. late model wrx/sti.
if i run across the "right one" i may snag it. im still scoping all the car venues in case, but as ive mentioned the prices are way out there now.
finding one that has low miles and the engine not modded out of this world is harder than you think.

4. 2023 lotus emira (just saw this today)
i could afford to get it, but it would be utterly and totally irresponsible on my part...lol. i couldnt carry anything, the gas milage would suck and it would just end up in my shop collection dust like my supra and 2 fd's. seriously though...it is a gorgeous car. to be honest i need to keep the price of my next dd at 30-45k.

5. world war 3 or another corona apocalypse....or if we find out bmw is building it for nissan.

so, for those of you who have planned on getting the z, just curious, what would stop you?
1)Price, if the prices go into the fifties the Supra and Z4 are a strong alternative, even a pre owned Cayman or Boxster and if it gets close to the sixties I rather buy a new Corvette C8 or lightly optioned Cayman. For just a few thousand dlls extra.
The Z is beautifully designed and with 400 HP a serious sports car, but what makes it so far my first choice is the price advantage, which has to be around 15 thousand under a base C8 or Cayman which can be purchased for just over 60K
2)bad reviews after it gets road tested.

Good luck with that, trust me I've been trying to get a C8 for over a year. There's no way you're getting a C8 anywhere near it's base price MSRP.

#1 Price: I work in the dealership world and I understand mark ups in this time. The dealers do not have inventory so they are trying to make up for it in every car they sell. But I will not be fooled into buying this car for more than 10% of the sticker price. I have seen dealers selling the new Supra for $20K over sticker and some poor guy does buy it. if that is the case I will just save my coin and get a Cayman.

#2 Nismo: if word comes out that there will be a Nismo edition then I will hold off until I can see if it will be worth the extra charge or if it will just be a body kit and some nice wheels.

#3 Drive: if it looks nice but drives like an Armada then I will have to pass. I plan to change suspension later on for track use but I do not want to do it right away to fix the way the car drives from the factory. The Supra and Mustang drive great off the lot and only need some tweaks to make them good track cars.

I’ve got 3 c8 all at msrp. It take s awhile to wait for your turn on the list but it’s doable. I expect used c8s to sell for a little under msrp once the zo6 comes out this year. Imo the c8 is light years ahead of a boxter / cayman. Little better than the Supra even. Plus it’s worth mentioning that the z4 is a bit more expensive than the Supra. @Salito

I’m here for just NISMO news. I’d probably pick one up if they are good modding platforms. But if this base Z is in the 50s then there will be a lot of people dropping out. You could get a slightly used Jaguar F-Type S or used R for that price. But personally I’d probably rather get a Shelby 350 if we are going to that price (because I already own a Supra).

I expect to pay about 55k for my NISMO. It shouldn’t be anywhere near a used GTR price, I hope

That is what I am thinking. Anything over $60K and you start pushing into used GTR and Porsche territory. And with the way the used car market is looking we will be seeing a crash either the end of the year or early next year.

My local dealership (the one that moves the most vette's) has over 200 people on the list for a base C8 and over 60 people on the list for a Z06. It's absolute chaos trying to get a C8.

Doesn't help when they keep being destroyed in disasters…I wouldn’t buy a C8, not because I don’t like it…but because I’m worried that they are cursed ??

? we'll let it live on through your quote. It's not the worst thing I've seen posted here. There are some that I couldn't fix if I wanted to, and they aren't even from a different quadrant.

I’ve got a bloody new iPad…it’s so sensitive, it keeps adding extra letters, and not picking others up etc …it’s so frustrating, I swear I know how to spell ?
