Just took delivery of my new 2023 Z! I have been following this forum for 18+ months and my story is very similar to several others - 30 years ago I owned a 1990 300ZX (red w/ black leather & T-Tops) and have been looking for a sports car now that my kids are out of college. I was pleasantly surprised when Nissan announced the new Z in late 2021, but like many, I have been waiting patiently to see if any would land near me (Kansas City). I have had an open search on the NIssan inventory site for 18 months and randomly checked the inventory in March to see if any Performance AT’s were available within 500 miles - much to my surprise, when I changed my color to Brilliant Silver there was one available soon at a dealer in southern MN (Dave Syverson Nissan, Albert Lea, MN). I called the dealer and 30 minutes later a salesperson confirmed it was indeed being delivered in late April/early May (they had no idea it was coming). I immediately put in a $1000 deposit, and the car was delivered to the dealer on Apr 24, the exact date indicated on the Nissan site. My Z is a Performance 9AT in Brilliant Silver w/ the black roof & graphite leather/suede interior, and I added splash guards, wheel locks, puddle/door lighting, and a tonneau cover for the rear hatch. On my initial call, the dealer was upfront and said that they do not markup above MSRP, so I paid MSRP of $54,100 + $1,500 for the accessories installed, and after a small snafu, the dealer offered to deliver it free of charge to my driveway in KC. Overall, the car is amazing and my patience in the buying process paid off - I really could not be more pleased with the dealer and salesperson (Aaron McVicker), the purchase process, and the car itself.
A couple of quick comments on my driving experience - the car is a modern remake of the legacy NIssan Z’s. It’s not a luxury sports sedan or SUV and it is very in-touch with the driver, and in that regard it’s really fun to drive like the old Z’s. Some have complained about the exhaust note - I actually love it for this price level of car - it’s a bit harsher/stronger than my Infiniti Q70 S and my wife’s Land Rover Defender (both of which can be throaty), but not annoying like a teenager’s add-on just for noise/show. The other comments on here related to the Bridgestone Potenza’s are accurate - they are loud and not all that great - I replaced them on my Infiniti w/ Continental Contact Sport Plus’s and a similar trade will eventually happen with the Z. Also, I’m athletic & 6’4” and have about 2” of clearance inside (would have loved a moonroof or the old T-Tops!), and I have found the side bolsters to be a little tight, but they hold really well in corners. The interior features and finishes are solid and really functional, nothing luxurious, but good enough for the price point. I am just starting to break it in, but cannot wait until I can really open it up and see what it can do! My last comment is that I could have bought a Porsche or something more exotic, but I am value for money guy, have always loved the Z’s, and am re-living my youth & the nostalgia of my old 300ZX - and this car fits the bill on every level!
