Purchased a brand new Nissan Z 3 weeks ago in Australia only have 500 kms on car check engine light on vehicle in limp mode my codes are P34B1 and P34B0 I have an appointment with Nissan on Tuesday next week.
Just a little bit more information to the whole story car sat on lot for 9 months vehicle was started up regularly on lot only doing short trips oil was quite dark and had a slight smell of fuel so all I've done is replaced oil and genuine oil filter use the correct oil penrite 0W-20 API SP made sure oil level was correct on dipstick at the h mark and another thing I did was put $60 of premium 98 fuel in the car also other thing I did which I sort of regret doing is I gave the engine a gentle wash with the hose didn't blow dry after finished went for a drive the next day all seemed okay car sat for 4 days then went for another drive stopped at the shop when I re-entered the vehicle and started it that's when the check engine light came on and vehicle has reduced performance in limp mode. From now on I will never hose the engine.
Nissan Australia in Queensland specified 0w20 but also recommend 5w30 in the Nissan Z and a few other Nissan models I change my oil every 6 months only do about 3 to 5,000 km per year.
I was advised by the service manager through an internal TSB that 5W30 is recommended 0W-20 is what is still in the book if I get my car serviced with Nissan Australia every 12 months or 10,000 km I qualify for a 10-year warranty which they will honour providing my services are done with Nissan Australia. Subaru have also changed for the 2023 WRX they now require 5W30 over 0W-20 even in the United states. I will be doing my own oil change in the 6 month intervals I only do between 3 to 5,000 km per year as I have a work vehicle.
