Do tell- what kind of oil, filter and interval are you using/observing?

Bottom line...with all my vehicles I pretty much follow the engine manufacturers' recommendations regarding API service classification for oil type and drain intervals. Oil filters are usually OEM for the particular vehicle (if I was changing my own oil I'd probably just use Mobil 1 and NAPA Gold/Wix filters). I use Mobil 1 mostly as it's easy to remember, but I have no illusions about its superiority as a lubricant. As long as the oil meets the Service Classifications that the mfgr recommends, likely the brand is irrelevant.

Must be a good schedule...I haven't had an oil-related catastrophic engine failure since I've been following this routine, 'course...I've never had an oil-related catastrophic engine failure, so I conclude that it doesn't make a difference for unmodified daily drivers in conventional daily use. IMHO.

Mt first oil change was at 1k miles
Amsoil 5w40 with Gtr filter
Now at 2200 miles and my engine and transmission already out for new z1 bb turbos and Nismo street clutch and flywheel
And another amsoil 5w40 oil change.
car on ethanol.
Oem recommended oil is only for epa standards for better mpg.
Oem oil too thin , causes failure down the road .

completely agree, even through my first oil change swapped to 5-w30 right away. when your pushing parts and going for far more power better viscosity is key.

Just got my first oil change done for my Z Nismo at 1259 miles after break-in period. I’ll do 5K/6 months going forward. One of the guys there questioned why I was doing an oil change. Told them I have 5 oil changes per year with my vip package I paid for and also wanted new oil after the break-in.

I just did mine at 1050 miles as I have an Autocross event this weekend so my break in will be over on sunday no matter what lol. when I bought the car I had to pay for a package that included the first 2 oil changes so I decided to go ahead and get it done today since I had already paid for it

Did the service technicians question why you’re doing an oil change? I’m at 1481 miles now. Having so much fun driving on manual mode.
What does your auto cross event entail? I’ve never done a track day before.

No because I told them upfront why I wanted it done. I figured since I paid for the them in advance I can do them whenever. I probably wont get another change until the fall/winter. I had a couple interior rattles I wanted looked at too but they determined it would consist of removing interior panels and keeping the car all day so I said nevermind just do the oil change

Autocross is like a step down from a track day it's usually like a minute or less course with cones mainly in 2nd or 3rd gear it's basically all the technical car control parts. You get multiple timed runs an event. Usually these are in big parking lots but the group I run with has the luxury of doing theirs on a mini track at our local fair grounds.

That sounds awesome. I could really use some actual advanced driving lessons. I’ve been watching a ton of content like from Mick Drives Cars on YouTube but nothing beats having an actual instructor. Have fun!
