Actual question for @Dan_Passe:

I was told by a Nissan rep at the Nissan Studio in Toronto where the Z is on display that although the Canadian car does not get built-in nav or the 9 inch display, the nav mapping you use on your connected Android or Apple phone can be displayed on the main IP behind the steering wheel, not only on the infotainment display. The rep brought up the main IP display setting where he said this would happen - it's the one that has the tach and speedo pushed to the outer edges of the screen leaving a big blank area in the middle for the map. Can you confirm this feature will be available?

Thank you for the question. I'll check on this for you. Back soon.

The first thing you'll notice is the presence of a new three-mode, 12.3-inch digital instrument display. "Normal" shows a balanced mix of vehicle stats and navigation; "Enhanced" moves the tach and speedometer to the edges for maximum navigation map area. "Sport" mode adds a g-force meter and boost gauge while placing the tach front and center. A shift light at the top allows drivers to see it without taking their eyes off the road.

But is that only the Nissan Connect navigation, or will it also display third party maps using Apple or Android? The Nissan Connect service requires a monthly subscription.

The map might be in reference to the OEM Nav maps; That's how Audi, MB and others mean when stating Navigation map area..

@Dan_Passe - a second question: Can you find out if the Boulder Grey paint code for the new Z is identical to the Boulder Grey Pearl paint code? The latter is currently available on the Rogue etc. but the naming is different and to me at least close-up photos show the Z paint as having different quality than that on the Rogue. Some of us are wondering if it is a solid paint rather than a pearl. Thanks.

P.S. Any news on the nav display question?

@Dan_Passe I apologize if you've already answered this somewhere else, but when can we expect the media to get their hands on cars, and when can we expect the embargo to lift so we can get some real hands on reviews?

Hi there - so we finally have an answer - Android Auto or CarPlay will display on the center display but not on the center-dash (TFT Meter) display.

For paint codes - Boulder Gray Pearl - KBY - is the same paint code as Rogue and other Nissan vehicles.

A very good questions that I'm working on daily. Soon-ish.

Great. So, another thing to take your eyes off the road. Glad Maps has a voice...

I’m use to it, but I’m very disappointed if it won’t be displayed in the major console, especially on a smaller screen.
There are just a couple of orange ( not red) flags appearing as details come to light

It's possible the 9" screen will be able to display in the IP using its built-in nav, in fact I vaguely recall some screenshot showing just this.

From the Nissan Press Kit:

he 12.3-inch TFT meter display is all-new with three display modes to suit driver preference. "Normal" mode offers a sporty feel with the center area for navigation, audio and vehicle information. "Enhanced" mode pushes the tachometer and speedometer to the edges of the display, giving more space in the center for a larger navigation map and information to be displayed. "Sport" mode prioritizes the tachometer in the center with shift-up light at the top for shift information in the driver's field of view. The Sport mode also allows for a boost gauge or G meter to be displayed.
