I don’t have the ability to measure dB, or rather maybe i do and it’s just not my strong suit…. That said, I did remove all the foam out of the back. It wasn’t hard, once you remove the sub with one simple hand screw or whatever you have in that spare tire spot (i have a performance trim) you just pull that middle foam section, then the L and R are held on by one single little plastic screw cap in the bottom of the foam. I removed the crap Bose subwoofer and have been in a holding pattern for almost two months waiting for a custom wiring harness to connect a new spare tire sub. I had all this sound deadener laying around from a jeep project a couple summers ago but you could really cover every tiny inch with some patience and not much $ at all.

This job, at least in the trunk area, has to be about a 1 out of 5 on a difficulty level so dont hesitate to give it a shot.

When I did mine it was sort of a “I‘ve got this all torn apart anyway, and i have this deadener, why not?“ it wasnt my main project. The ONLY hang up you may have is just how tight that foam can be under the left and right sides, but some gentle pursuading and you can do so without any damage. It’s foam after all, so dont go at it like the Hulk and you will be fine.

Link to material and how many sheets or square footage do you need for trunk?
I am a bit underwhelmed by the sound system in the car. I'd rather not have to completely redo it. Does the sound deadening in the trunk help in that regard?

I can’t comment with much integrity as I removed the bose sub. Sound deadening “should” certainly help a sound system by eliminating background noise, if I’m not mistaken that is the point, but I’m of the opinion that nothing can help that Bose sub sound any better, its junk and they should be ashamed to put their name on it and/or call it an “upgraded sound system”.

I didnt even list mine on eBay as they are listed for ~$50 and prob cost more to ship it.

Did you just replace the sub any none of the other speakers? What sub did you use?

Still in a holding pattern waiting for a wiring harness, I just didnt want to cut the Bose wiring to the new amplified sub. I bought the Cerwin Vega spare tire sub. It’s not hooked up yet due to that delayed harness. I’m not replacing anything else, but elsewhere on this forum some others have installed this same sub or a similar spare tire sub and have some pretty good reviews of it.

$29 worth of Amazon sound deadening and about 30 min, seems to have made a nice improvement.

I went and added sound/heat proof in the spare tire area. It was bare metal; as you can see. The other pictures are after the addition. It made a considerable difference. We'll see what happens once I get the ASE turned off.

OMG, you did an amazing job!!
Do you plan to do the panels as well?
Can you already hear a noticeable difference?

The guy said he will add a second layer…
Would you mind measuring the noise level at 55–65 miles per hour?

but ASE isn’t supposed to help reducing the (engine) noise or something ?

I'm not planning on doing the panels. I don't know how to measure the decibels without getting a special device for that.
I thought that the ASE was supposed to enhance the noise from the outside?

Tks ! but glad to hear there is a positive difference already !
If you have an Apple Watch there is a function to measure the Db it is not 100% ultra reliable but it already gives an indication.

I mixed up I was thinking about the ANC and it seems that it about the low frequencies

“Active Noise Cancellation technology uses a microphone in the headlining to identify undesirable low-frequency engine sounds and neutralise them with sound waves of the opposite frequency. The result – a quieter driving experience that still preserves the invigorating sounds of the engine.”
